SAN FRANCISCO, November 9, 2004 — nCircle, the leading provider of enterprise-class vulnerability management solutions, today announced it has been formally recognized for Common Vulnerabilities Exposure (CVE®) compatibility for its IP360 Vulnerability Management System. The award, presented to nCircle this week during the CSI Computer Security Conference in Washington, DC, recognizes security products that have incorporated MITRE Corporation's CVE names in its vulnerability search databases and other information security products and services.

"nCircle has demonstrated its commitment to providing its customers with a comprehensive network security solution by integrating CVE names into IP360," said Robert A. Martin, MITRE CVE Compatibility Lead. nCircle was presented the certificate by Lawrence C. Hale, the Deputy Director of the National Cyber Security Div., U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team at the Department of Homeland Security. nCircle was one of 10 companies receiving certification.

CVE is a list or dictionary that provides common names for publicly known information security vulnerabilities and exposures. Using common names makes it easier to share data across separate databases and tools that were not easily integrated in the past. CVE-compatible tools and databases will provide organizations with better coverage, easier interoperability and enhanced security. CVE is also endorsed by leading representatives from the information security community.

In addition to the CVE listings, IP360 provides coverage of the SANS Top 20, and CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) advisories list.

"nCircle actively supports standardization efforts in the security market, including the CVE's common lexicon for the vulnerability namespace," said Tim Keanini, CTO at nCircle. "We are committed to ensuring nCircle's IP360 product continues to support CVE names, and provides customers with the best tools for vulnerability management."

The MITRE Corporation, an independent, not-for-profit corporation, maintains CVE and provides neutral guidance to the Editorial Board on all matters related to the ongoing development of CVE.
